Curious Cat

The Curious Cat series is a Way Out Bunch Resource from Green Arc.
Curious Cat takes the child on an adventure to various parts of the world to discover an endangered animal.

One endangered animal is featured per book, raising awareness within young children, as well as establishing knowledge of the country’s geography, maps and flags. Questions are asked along the way to help stimulate the child’s interaction.

Curious Cat’s Way Out Bunch is a perfect vehicle to raise awareness with KS1 children in a way that really engages them.

Every book is full of enchanting illustrations and fascinating facts about the creatures’ appearance, habits and environment. In all these books the children are introduced to the world’s rarest, most exotic, endangered animals. And if that wasn’t enough its all in rhyme. The endangered animal is always hiding somewhere on this page and… finally all is revealed. At the end of each book there is a photograph of the featured animal and a fact file for the children to find out even more information.

School Review - Feltonfleet School

"The adventures of Curious Cat are educational as they raise children’s awareness about endangered species.  Curious Cat visits different countries in each book and the text is written in an enjoyable rhyme that maintains children’s interest and makes it fun to read.  During the story there are picture clues for the children to try and guess what the endangered animal from that country might be.  This was very engaging for the children and they thoroughly enjoyed trying to use the clues on each page to figure out and guess what each creature was.

The school visit included a reading session with each class from Nursery to Year 2 and an activity pack relating to each book in the series.  The teachers from each class could photocopy activities from the pack which the children thoroughly enjoyed completing after the visit.

A thoroughly enjoyable series of books that explore different countries and broaden children’s geographical knowledge as well as educating them about endangered animals from around the world." Mrs S Ward, Assistant Headteacher
Feltonfleet School, Cobham

School Review - Danesfield Manor School

"The children were fascinated by the animals that have been written about, all from the Red List of IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Stimulated by the visit, our pupils spent time a week researching their own
choice of animals, writing fact files about them and the older children worked on their own books in the same style as The Wayout Bunch, which they are producing for the younger pupils in school. We are looking forward to seeing the end results." Helen Chalmers, Head Mistress, Danesfield Manor School, Walton on Thames.
